Traffic patterns change on I-43/Leo Frigo Bridge in Brown County
August 30, 2012
Southbound I-43 off-ramp to Webster Avenue to close
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region in Green Bay is cautioning motorists that a traffic switch and additional ramp closures are scheduled to begin Tuesday, September 4 as part of the $17 million project to improve the Leo Frigo Memorial Bridge and approximately 3.5 miles of I-43, from Irwin Avenue to Military Avenue, in Brown County.
September 4 to 6:
- Following the Labor Day holiday, traffic will be shifted onto the outside lanes in each direction along I-43. Starting Tuesday, September 4 through Thursday, September 6, the contractor will move the concrete barrier wall from the southbound lanes to the northbound lanes, complete drainage improvements, and modify pavement markings.
September 6 to November 2012:
- Traffic will be bi-directional along the northbound I-43 lanes beginning Thursday, September 6 through mid-November 2012.
- The southbound I-43 off-ramp to Webster Avenue will close on Thursday, September 6 and is scheduled to reopen by mid-November 2012.
Motorists are reminded that traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction and the southbound I-43 on-ramp at Atkinson Drive and northbound I-43 on-ramp at Webster Avenue remain closed through mid-November.
WisDOT is urging motorists to plan for extensive delays and to seek alternate routes.
All lane restrictions and work operations are weather-dependent and subject to change.
