Public meeting set for WIS 16 (Cass Street), La Crosse

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will hold a public information meeting to discuss the proposed improvements for the reconstruction of WIS 16 (Cass Street) from 4th Street to 7th Street, La Crosse. The meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the 5th floor conference room at the La Crosse City Hall, 400 La Crosse Street. A brief presentation that covers the proposed improvements will be given at 5:15 p.m.
Project improvements include replacing the concrete pavement, curb and gutter, sidewalk, storm sewer, water main, street lighting and traffic signals. The intersection of Cass Street and 7th Street will be widened and upgraded to include either a signalized intersection or a roundabout intersection. Construction is currently scheduled for spring 2015 and should be completed by fall 2015. Cass Street will be closed to traffic during construction. The location for the detour route is under consideration.
The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input and ask questions concerning this project. Maps showing the proposed improvement alternatives will be on display. WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project on an individual basis.
