WisDOT schedules I-39, Reserve Street public information meeting

October 9, 2012

Meeting will focus on proposed replacement of bridges, currently scheduled in 2014

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is conducting a public information meeting for the proposed replacement of the I-39 bridges over Reserve Street in the city of Stevens Point.

The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 18 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Harmony Living Center, 1800 Bluebell Lane, Stevens Point.

The purpose of the meeting is to familiarize the public with the purpose and need for the project and to obtain input on the proposed improvements. The meeting will follow an open house format. No formal presentations are scheduled. WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the proposed improvements and address any questions or concerns.

Proposed improvements include replacing the northbound and southbound bridges on I-39 over Reserve Street. The bridges have reached the end of their design life and require replacement to meet current design and safety standards. WisDOT is also proposing to reconstruct Reserve Street from 800 feet south to 400 feet north of I-39 to improve the vertical clearance of I-39 over Reserve Street.

The project is currently scheduled for construction in summer and fall 2014.

WisDOT is currently planning to keep I-39 open to two lanes in each direction during construction, but the work will require closing Reserve Street during construction.

The Harmony Living Center is wheelchair accessible. The public is encouraged to attend the meeting and provide input. Citizens who are deaf or hard of hearing and require an interpreter may request one by contacting Kristin McHugh at least three working days prior to the meeting.
