WIS 54 in Waupaca County, WIS 66 between Wisconsin Rapids and Stevens Point reopened to traffic

October 12, 2012

Crews reopened WIS 54 in Waupaca County (Portage County line to Foxfire Drive) to through traffic yesterday. The $2.2 million resurfacing project began in mid-August 2012. No additional traffic impacts are anticipated.

WIS 66 between Wisconsin Rapids and Stevens Point reopen to traffic before 9 a.m. today (October 12). The $5.1 million project began in May 2012 and has been closed and detoured to through traffic since June 11. No additional traffic impacts are anticipated. The closure was necessary for crews to replace four bridges located along the highway. As part of the improvements, crews also installed rumble strips along the highway’s center line between the Wood/Portage County line and Portage County HH. Rumble strips were installed along the center line and the shoulders between WIS 34 to the Wood/Portage County line. The rumble strips are designed to reduce run-off-the-road crashes.
