Public meeting for Belknap Street in the city of Superior

October 22, 2012

Meeting to focus on preliminary designs for improvement of Belknap Street

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northwest Region in Superior is announcing a public information meeting to discuss preliminary design concepts for the improvement of Belknap Street (US 2) from Banks Avenue to Hill Avenue. WisDOT, in partnership with the city of Superior, will be holding the meeting on Thursday, November 1 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. in the large meeting room of the Superior Public Library, 1530 Tower Avenue.

The proposed improvement project on US 2 would begin at the east side of the Banks Avenue intersection, continue east on Belknap Street, and end approximately 100 feet west of the E. 7th Street intersection. The purpose of this meeting is to inform the public of the status of preliminary design investigations, the proposed alternative and the project schedule. Design concepts to be discussed include the lane configuration or "look" of the final roadway, parking, sidewalk, street lighting, side streets and utilities. This meeting will be the main opportunity for public comment on the streetscape proposal.

WisDOT and city of Superior representatives will be available to discuss the proposed project and familiarize interested parties with the project concepts. The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input and ask questions concerning this project.

If you are unable to attend the meeting, or would like more information, contact Project Leader Stephanie King at (715) 392-7874. Written comments regarding the project can be mailed to Stephanie King, WisDOT, 1701 North 4th Street, Superior, WI 54880 or emailed to nwr.dtsd@dot.wi.gov.
