Public meeting scheduled for Waldo Boulevard construction in Manitowoc

Many improvements being presented at meeting
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region in Green Bay is announcing a public information meeting to discuss the US 10/WIS 42 (Waldo Boulevard) improvement project in the city of Manitowoc from County R to Maritime Drive. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 1, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Manitowoc City Hall Council Chambers, first floor, 900 Quay Street, Manitowoc. A brief presentation has been scheduled for 5:15 p.m.
This meeting will be held in an open-house format. Individuals can visit at their convenience during the meeting hours, talk with project staff, review the project, ask questions and provide input.
Waldo Boulevard proposed improvements include:
- Waldo Boulevard being resurfaced between County R and Fleetwood Drive,
- Reconstruction from Fleetwood Drive to 5th Street,
- Resurfacing from 5th Street to Maritime Drive,
- Storm sewer upgrades and,
- Rehabilitation of the bridge over the Wisconsin Central Railroad.
Construction is currently scheduled to start in the spring 2017.
Other improvements also being considered include roundabouts at County R and Maritime Drive, a reconfiguration of the Menasha Avenue intersection, bicycle accommodations, and the reduction of Waldo Boulevard from a four-lane roadway to a two-lane roadway with a two-way left-turn lane in the median.
The public meeting facility is handicapped accessible. People who are deaf or hard of hearing and require an interpreter should contact the WisDOT Project Manager Matthew Haefs no later than three working days prior to the meeting.
