Governor Walker approves nearly $158,000 for project at Alexander Field – South Wood County Airport

Governor Scott Walker today announced a $157,895 design project at Alexander Field – South Wood County Airport in Wisconsin Rapids.
Terry Ripp, airport engineering specialist with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), said the project involves updating the 1991 Airport Layout Plan (ALP) and design for the reconstruction of the primary runway.
The project is scheduled to be completed in late 2013.
Funding Breakdown
- State = $3,947.50
- Alexander Field – South Wood County Airport = $3,947.50
- Federal Aviation Administration = $150,000
Alexander Field – South Wood County Airport is owned by the cities of Wisconsin Rapids and Nekoosa, the town of Grand Rapids and the village of Port Edwards. It has two paved runways. The primary runway is 5,500 feet, while the secondary runway is 3,470 feet.
