WisDOT schedules WIS 54/Maple Drive intersection public involvement meeting

November 26, 2012

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is conducting a public involvement meeting for the proposed reconstruction of the WIS 54/Maple Drive intersection, located in the village of Plover.

The meeting will take place on Tuesday, December 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the activity room at the Village of Plover Hall, 2400 Post Road, Plover. A brief presentation is scheduled to begin at 5:15 p.m. The remainder of the meeting will follow an open house format. Displays will be available for review and WisDOT representatives will be on hand to discuss the proposed project and address any questions.

The purpose of the project is to reconstruct and improve the safety of the WIS 54/Maple Drive intersection. The curve of WIS 54 combined with the angle at which Maple Drive intersects with WIS 54, contributes to the crashes occurring at this intersection. Speed, traffic volumes, and large truck percentages are also contributing factors.

WisDOT is seeking your input on the improvement alternatives being evaluated for this location. The alternatives include limiting access, raised medians and protected left-turn bays, and a roundabout.

The reconstruction of the intersection is currently scheduled for 2014.

The Village of Plover Hall is wheelchair accessible. Citizens who are deaf or hard of hearing and require an interpreter may request one by contacting Mike Kretschmer at (715) 421-8096 at least three working days prior to the meeting.
