Governor Walker announces new Wisconsin Rustic Road in Sauk County

Governor Scott Walker has announced the official designation of Wisconsin Rustic Road 112. The honor goes to Bundy Hollow Road in the town of La Valle in Sauk County.

"The Rustic Roads program represents one of Wisconsin's oldest and most successful state and local government partnerships," Governor Walker said. "Along with identifying and preserving our state's scenic country roads, the program also greatly contributes to our tourism industry."

Bundy Hollow Road spans 2.8 miles. It is a sloping, curvy road nestled in between hills – with alternating views of pastures and croplands with wooded hillsides. The woods, fields and wetlands provide a habitat for many birds and other wildlife in Sauk County.

Wisconsin's Rustic Road system was created in 1973 to preserve scenic, lightly-traveled country roads for the leisurely enjoyment of bikers, hikers and motorists. Rustic Roads range from under two miles to 37 miles in length and have a maximum speed limit of 45 miles per hour. Unique brown and yellow signs mark the routes of all officially designated Rustic Roads. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) oversees the Rustic Roads program; however, the roads remain under local government jurisdiction.

With the addition of Rustic Road 112, the state's system now includes more than 640 miles of Rustic Roads through 58 Wisconsin counties. For more information on the Rustic Roads program, visit the WisDOT Web site.
