Merrimac Ferry expected to open at 4 p.m.

December 21, 2012

The Merrimac Ferry along WIS 113 between Columbia and Sauk County is tentatively scheduled to open at 4 p.m.

The 4 p.m. opening could be delayed for safety considerations related to high winds.

Flashing lights along local state highways are activated when the ferry is out of service. The lights are located at WIS 60 and I-90/94, WIS 19 and WIS 113, WIS 78 and WIS 113, WIS 78 and I-90/94, and at US 12 and County K.

Once operational, the ferry will continue its crossings until ice forms on the Wisconsin River. At that time the ferry will be closed for the season.

Motorists are encouraged call 511 or log onto Wisconsin 511 online for the latest traffic updates.
