Governor Walker approves $7.7 million project at Dane County Regional Airport

Governor Scott Walker today announced a $7,721,544 construction project for a new maintenance building at the Dane County Regional Airport in Madison.
David Montesinos, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), said the new building is needed to store and maintain the airport’s snow removal equipment. The current facility is outdated and does not allow for the proper storage and maintenance of the equipment.
The project is expected to begin in January and should be completed by November 2013.
Funding Breakdown
- State = $500,000
- Dane County = $1,092,182
- Federal Aviation Administration = $6,129,362
Dane County Regional Airport consists of three paved runways, parallel taxiways, aircraft parking ramps, a terminal building, parking facilities and an FAA control tower. There are four commercial airlines serving the airport.
