Governor Walker announces $272,000 transportation grant to town of Hubbard

Award creates 55 new jobs at Menard’s; constructs rail connection for facility

Governor Scott Walker announced today that the town of Hubbard in Dodge County is being awarded a Transportation Economic Assistance (TEA) grant. The $272,439 award represents the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s contribution toward the construction of a rail spur to serve Menard’s expanding manufacturing facility in the town of Hubbard.

This TEA project will create 55 direct jobs at Menard’s and indirectly support another 29 jobs. The grant represents 50 percent of the $544,878 rail spur construction cost. The other half of the funding is being providing by Menard’s. Construction on the 1,100 foot rail spur is expected to be completed by March of this year.

Menard’s is investing more than $11.5 million in its town of Hubbard site by adding a manufacturing and distribution center to the existing concrete paver, block and brick facility – part of the company’s landscaping division. Menard’s was started in Wisconsin in 1972, with its corporate headquarters located in Eau Claire.

Since it was created in 1987, the TEA grant program has invested more than $88 million in 322 projects benefiting 352 businesses and creating or retaining 75,812 jobs in Wisconsin.
