Meeting to focus on the proposed Red River bridge replacement and culvert extension at the West Branch of the Red River
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is conducting a public involvement meeting to discuss proposed bridge replacement at the Red River in Phlox and the culvert extension at the West Branch of the Red River on WIS 47 in town of Norwood in Langlade County.
The meeting is scheduled to take place on Monday, February 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Norwood Town Hall, W7380 State Highway 47, Phlox. The meeting will follow an open house format. Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) representatives will be available to discuss the proposed project and address any questions. Maps showing the proposed improvement alternatives will be on display.
Construction is currently scheduled for 2015 but could be advanced to 2014.
The proposed improvements will require minor right of way acquisition and temporary easements to construct. Proposed improvements include:
- Replacing the Red River, new sidewalk, new guardrails, and new roadway pavement on the approaches
- Extending the West Branch of the Red River culvert , new roadway pavement, side slope grading, and guardrail removal
To facilitate the bridge replacement WisDOT is proposing to detour WIS 47 traffic via WIS 55, WIS 64 and US 45. WIS 47 will remain open to local and emergency traffic. Motorists can expect to encounter temporary traffic signals at the West Branch of the Red River during the culvert work.
The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input and ask questions about the proposed improvements.
