Governor Walker announces $155,000 transportation grant to village of Mt. Pleasant

Governor Scott Walker announced today that the village of Mt. Pleasant is being awarded a Transportation Economic Assistance (TEA) grant. The $155,000 award represents the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s contribution for intersection improvements to benefit Seda International Packaging Group.

This TEA project will create 31 new jobs at Seda, while indirectly supporting another 34 jobs. The road improvement project includes the creation of left-turn lanes at the WIS 20 intersection at County V and International Drive. This lane reconfiguration will allow the village of Mt. Pleasant to install traffic signals at the intersection. The $155,000 TEA grant represents half of the $310,000 construction project. The remainder of the funding is being provided by the village of Mt. Pleasant.

Seda International Package Group is a market leader in the field of ice cream packing and is one of the largest paper converting companies for the food industry. The Mt. Pleasant facility is Seda’s first U.S. location. The company is headquartered in Italy. Seda is investing $3 million to expand its Wisconsin packaging site.

Since it was created in 1987, WisDOT’s TEA grant program has invested more than $89.2 million in 326 projects benefiting 356 businesses and creating or retaining 76,273 jobs in Wisconsin. For a complete listing of TEA grants and project details, visit the Wisconsin DOT web site.
