Public meeting scheduled for Stoughton Road study

March 11, 2013

Public invited to comment on transportation alternatives

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will hold a public information meeting to discuss corridor planning for the US 51 (Stoughton Road) corridor from Terminal Drive/Voges Road in the Village of McFarland to WIS 19 in the village of DeForest, Dane County. The meeting is scheduled from 6 to 8 pm on March 19 at Robert M. Lafollette High School, 702 Pflaum Road, Madison. A formal presentation is scheduled for 6:30 pm.

The meeting will present updated transportation alternatives for this ongoing study. The three corridor alternatives have been developed to provide a range of improvements to address safety, congestion, and bicycle and pedestrian issues. WisDOT will present its Recommended Alternative for the corridor, which may be revised based on public input. Next steps in the study include selection of the Preferred Alternative and submission of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).

The meeting will follow an open house format. WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the study on an individual basis.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input and ask questions concerning this project corridor. Those who are unable to attend the meeting, or would like more information, contact Jeff Berens at (608) 245-2656 or jeff.berens@dot.wi.gov.
