Public meeting for US 61 Dickeyville to Fennimore, Grant County

March 14, 2013

A public information meeting will be held Thursday, March 21 to discuss planned improvements to US 61 from Dickeyville to Fennimore. The meeting will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Lancaster High School Gymnasium, 806 E. Elm Street. A brief presentation is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

The meeting will be organized in an open-house format with a variety of exhibits and maps available for review. Representatives will be available to answer questions throughout the evening. The public is encouraged to attend and share verbal or written comments about the project.

WisDOT plans to improve the roadway with two projects. The first project is US 61 between Dickeyville and Lancaster. The proposed improvements include increasing passing lane opportunities, improving intersections and evaluating potential drainage issues. The second project is US 61 between Lancaster and Fennimore. The proposed improvements include making upgrades to the existing pavement and shoulders, increasing passing lane opportunities, improving side slopes and intersections throughout the project.

The Dickeyville-Lancaster project is currently scheduled for 2019 construction at a cost of $4.8 million. The Lancaster-Fennimore project is currently scheduled for 2017 construction at a cost of $8.6 million. One or both of these projects could be constructed as early as 2015 depending on funding availability.
