Posted weight limit on WIS 131 in Crawford County

Weight limit to start Thursday, March 28

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation announced a seasonal posted weight limit for WIS 131 in Crawford County effective Thursday, March 28, 2013. The weight limit extends along WIS 131 from WIS 60 north to WIS 179 in Steuben.

The weight restriction consists of six tons gross load for single axle vehicles, 10 tons gross load for tandem axle vehicles, and a maximum total vehicle weight limit of 24 tons.

The seasonal weight restrictions are placed on specific highways during the spring thaw period. The restrictions are added to routes that have poor foundations, with the goal of preventing pavement damage from legal-weight loads.

The class II roadway restrictions for overweight permitted vehicles are still in effect for this highway.
