2013 construction season to get underway

April 1, 2013

Nearly $190 million of work to be done in the Northwest Region

With warmer temperatures on the way and the snow finally melting, road construction projects in the Northwest Region will be starting in many areas this week. Some of the most significant work will be on I-94 from the border with Minnesota through Jackson County. A total of eight projects are planned and include:

  • WIS 35 N to US 12 and St. Croix River Bridges – St. Croix County
  • I-94/ WIS 65 Interchange – St. Croix County
  • WIS 128 to Wilson Creek – St. Croix/Dunn counties
  • Replacement of the Red Cedar River Bridges – Dunn County
  • WIS 312 and WIS 37 – Eau Claire County
  • WIS 37 and US 53 – Eau Claire County
  • Mallard Road to County NN – Eau Claire and Trempealeau counties
  • Four bridges in Jackson County

"Because of the number of projects we have planned this year, especially on the interstate corridor, we recommend motorists plan ahead and be prepared for delays during your travels this summer," said Don Gutkowski, NW Region director. "We understand this may cause inconveniences for some, but the finished product will be a longer-lasting, safer roadway."

Other projects in the region include the reconstruction of Tower Avenue in Superior, pavement replacement through Black River Falls and the Radio Road Interchange in River Falls.

Motorists are encouraged to visit Wisconsin 511 online for up-to-date travel information and overall project information can be found at the Wisconsin DOT web site.
