Lane closures planned in Superior to repair sanitary sewer pipe break
April 3, 2013
Beginning at noon today, US 53 northbound from Baxter Avenue to the Blatnik Bridge will be temporarily closed due to an unexpected sanitary sewer pipe break under the US 53 northbound pavement. The closure is expected to remain in place until noon Friday, April 5.
The 3rd Street ramp to the Blatnik Bridge will remain open. The inside US 53 southbound lane at the traffic signals near Grand Avenue will remain open for southbound US 53 traffic. The Hammond Avenue access to the Blatnik Bridge will be unaffected and remain open.
Motorists are encouraged to take alternate routes and plan accordingly. Directional signing will direct normal US 53 northbound to I-535 northbound traffic (Blatnik Bridge) traffic to take the alternative US 2 westbound (Belknap Street) route.
