WIS 49, WIS 161 resurfacing scheduled to begin in Waupaca County

April 8, 2013

Property, business owners invited to attend construction information meeting on April 22

The $612,000 resurfacing of WIS 49 and WIS 161 (between Anderson Road and County J) in Waupaca County is currently scheduled to begin in late April 2013. The schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions.

The public is invited to attend a construction information meeting to learn more about the planned construction activities, the construction schedule and how traffic will be managed. The meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 22, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Iola Community Center, 108 South Main Street, Iola. A brief presentation is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Citizens who are deaf or hard of hearing and require an interpreter may request one by contacting Kristin McHugh at (715) 421-8380 at least three working days prior to the meeting.

American Asphalt of Mosinee is the prime contractor for the project. Crews will resurface the roadway with new asphalt.

During construction WIS 49 and WIS 161 will remain open to traffic with temporary daytime lane closures and flagging operations. Motorists can expect some delays. During the flagging operations for milling and paving, parking areas will be closed. One side of parking throughout the village will remain open at all times. No work will be allowed during the Iola Car Show or the Vintage Military show.

Construction is currently scheduled for completion by June 2013.

One hundred percent of the project will be paid for with state transportation funds.
