Public information meeting for WIS 33 (Center and Front Street), Beaver Dam
April 23, 2013
Meeting to focus on decision to keep WIS 33 in its current location
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will hold a public information meeting on the reconstruction of WIS 33 (Center and Front Street) from Maple Avenue to Spring Street in Beaver Dam, currently scheduled for 2015. The meeting will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 9 at Beaver Dam City Hall (Council Chamber), 205 South Lincoln Avenue.
In response to the comments received during and after a meeting held on August 7, 2012, as well as input from the city of Beaver Dam, WIS 33 will be reconstructed on its current route. Previously the status of a property at the northeast corner of Center and Front Street was under consideration. Following review by the State Historical Preservation Office, it was determined the property is not eligible for the historic register.
Due to the time required for the historical review process, property acquisition and demolition, the reconstruction project is scheduled for 2015.
The meeting is will be held in an open house format. No formal presentation is scheduled. The public is encouraged to attend, provide input and ask questions concerning this project. Exhibits showing the proposed improvements will be on display for review. In addition, DOT representatives will be available to answer questions and discuss concerns with the project on an individual basis.
If you are unable to attend the meeting, or would like more information, contact Karla Knorr at (608) 246-7965. Written comments regarding the project can be mailed to Project Manager Karla Knorr, 2101 Wright Street, Madison, WI 53704. Citizens who are deaf or hard of hearing and require an interpreter may request one by contacting WisDOT at least three working days prior to the meeting.
