Sanitary sewer main break forces traffic change

January 21, 2014

Due to a sanitary sewer main break on US 53 southbound in Superior, the city's Environmental Services Division of Public Works has requested a road closure/detour to allow them to make repairs.

Beginning at noon today, US 53 southbound will be detoured. Motorists will need to use WIS 35 southbound from 3rd Street to US 2 east (Belknap Street) to US 53 south (east 2nd Street).

It is important to note that there will be no access to the Blatnik Bridge (US 53 north) via 3rd street. Access to the Blatnik Bridge will be from Hammond Avenue via local city streets.

The repairs are expected to last until sometime later in the week.
