I-94 westbound ramp to I-894 closing at 10 a.m. today
January 24, 2014
Removal of loose material from bridge requires ramp closure
The ramp from westbound I-94 to southbound I-894 will be closed beginning at 10 a.m. today and will remain closed to all traffic for approximately an hour. Work is needed to remove loose surface material from the fascia of the bridge carrying northbound traffic from I-894 to US 45. Visual inspections have identified material that could break free from the structure and land on the roadway below.
There are no issues with the structural integrity of the structure and the material is being removed as a precautionary measure. Delays are expected to develop during the closure. Suggested detours include use of US 45 to Wisconsin Avenue, I-94 out to Moorland Road or 70th Street to Greenfield Avenue. If practical, motorists could use I-43 out of the Marquette Interchange to I-894.
If additional work is required, updated releases will be sent out. As always, use of the Wisconsin 511 web site will help provide traffic information.
