Public meeting for the improvement of WIS 48 in Barron County

February 17, 2014

Meeting to focus on proposed improvements

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northwest Region will be holding a public involvement meeting to discuss planned improvements to WIS 48 (Hammond Avenue) between Knapp Street and County Highway NN. The meeting is scheduled from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, at the Rice Lake City Hall Council Chambers, located at 30 East Eau Claire Street, Rice Lake, Wisconsin.

The improvement consists of two project segments. One will resurface WIS 48 between Knapp Street and North Street, include the addition of curb and gutter on both sides of the roadway and add sidewalk on the east side of the roadway. The second project will resurface the WIS 48 pavement from North Street to County Highway NN, replace portions of curb and gutter, improve drainage pipes, and add left turn bays at County Highway M north and south. All highway signs and pavement markings will be replaced for both projects. The projects are planned for the 2015 construction season. WIS 48 (Hammond Avenue) will remain open to traffic while under construction.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input and ask questions concerning this project. WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project on an individual basis.

If you are unable to attend the meeting or would like more information, contact Project Manager Matt Dickenson at (715) 395-3022.
