Governor Scott Walker today announced a $3.35 million design and construction project for terminal building renovations and additional safety improvements at La Crosse Regional Airport.
Wendy Hottenstein, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), said the project includes design documents for future terminal improvements, along with current renovations being made to the exterior of the building. In addition, pavement repairs are being made to the airport’s primary runway. A new snowplow tractor and an airport wildlife hazard assessment are also part of this project.
- State = $424,000
- City of La Crosse = $424,000
- Federal Aviation Administration = $2,502,000
Portions of the project began last fall, with this phase expected to wrap up by June 2014.
La Crosse Regional Airport is one of 98 facilities included in the Wisconsin State Airport System Plan, which makes it eligible for state and federal funding. Airport improvement projects are administered through WisDOT’s Bureau of Aeronautics.
