Public meeting for Highway 23 improvements, Iowa County

April 16, 2014

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will hold a public involvement meeting to discuss preventative maintenance measures for the improvement of Highway 23 from the south side of the Wisconsin River Bridge to Lower Wyoming Road in Iowa County. The meeting is scheduled from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on May 6 at the Spring Green Community Library, 230 East Monroe Street.

The proposed project will consist of a mill and overlay of the existing asphalt pavement, retain the existing shoulders, replace the existing concrete barrier ends at three bridges along the project corridor, and improve signage to meet current safety standards. Beam guard will also be replaced at the south end of the Wisconsin River Bridge. There are no plans to change the profile or footprint of Highway 23. Proposed construction activities will occur within the existing right-of-way; no new right-of-way will be acquired.

Construction of the project is currently scheduled for 2015.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input and ask questions concerning this project. Maps showing the proposed improvements will be on display. WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project on an individual basis.
