Governor Walker approves funding for Marshfield Municipal Airport improvements
May 8, 2014
Governor Scott Walker today announced a $623,813 project to complete a number of airport improvements. The project includes the acquisition of land that will protect the runway approach area, provides for an airport planning study and allows for the completion of needed pavement maintenance.
Michael Gabor, airport engineering specialist with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), said the project will provide additional protection to prevent further development in the runway approach area of the primary runway – a high safety-related priority recommended by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
- State = $23,657
- City of Marshfield = $23,657
- Federal Aviation Administration = $576,500
The project is scheduled to begin in May of 2014 and should be complete before the end of the year.
Marshfield Municipal Airport is one of 98 facilities included in the Wisconsin State Airport System Plan, which makes it eligible for state and federal funding. Airport improvement projects are administered through WisDOT’s Bureau of Aeronautics.
