June 18, 2014

Meeting will provide update on project; public invited to attend, provide comments

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Southwest Region will hold a public involvement meeting to discuss the reconstruction project of WIS 35 (Marquette Road) from La Pointe Street to Mooney Street in Prairie du Chien scheduled for 2017. The meeting is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. on July 8 at the Community Room of Prairie du Chien City Hall at 214 East Blackhawk Avenue, Prairie du Chien, WI 53821.

The proposed improvement project along WIS 35 begins at La Pointe Street and continues northwest along Marquette Road for approximately 1.24 miles to Mooney Street. The proposed work to be completed consists of reconstructing this section of roadway from the existing four-lane undivided highway to a three-lane roadway with a two-way left-turn lane (TWLTL) and auxiliary lanes. The project includes replacing storm sewer, sanitary sewer (where present) and water (where present). WisDOT and the city of Prairie du Chien will also be taking access into consideration along the project route.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input and ask questions concerning this project. Maps showing the proposed improvements will be on display. WisDOT and city of Prairie du Chien representatives will be available to discuss the project on an individual basis.
