June 26, 2014
Work starting Monday, July 7
As part of his efforts to create jobs and make sure Wisconsin is open for business, Governor Scott Walker recently approved $1.4 million to replace the WIS 32 bridge crossing the Oconto River. The bridge is located approximately one mile south of the WIS 22/32 intersection between Gray Lake Road and Milwaukee Lane. Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, July 7 and be completed by Friday, October 17.
Pheifer Brothers Construction Company, Neenah, WI is the prime contractor.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region project includes replacement of the current bridge with a pre-stressed girder bridge. The bridge will be widened from 24 feet to 40 feet, the bridge profile raised 2 feet and reconstruction of the approaches.
During construction, WIS 32 will be closed at this location. The detour will be WIS 32/County CC/County K/WIS 22/WIS 32. Accesses to all residences, businesses and St. John’s Riverside Lutheran Church will be maintained during the project.
