Traffic impact updates

• Reardon Rd. to be closed at US 51 beginning May 13, 2013.
• Vinburn Rd. east to be closed at US 51 for three weeks, beginning May 20, 2013.
• Windsor Rd. west and east will be closed at US 51 beginning after June 10, 2013 and running through Sept. 27, 2013.

Project location

US 51, Reardon Rd. to just north of County V (Grinde Rd.), Windsor to DeForest, in Dane County.

Project overview

• Reconstruct this segment of US 51 into a 4-lane divided freeway.
• Existing two lanes will be reconstructed and an additional two lanes added to create a 4-lane divided highway.
• The new 4-lane divided highway will transition back to two lanes just north of County V (Grinde Rd.).
• Interchanges to be constructed at Windsor Rd. and County V/North Street.
• Due to the conversion of US 51 to a freeway, all access to the highway outside of the interchanges will be removed.
  
  
• Current private driveway accesses onto US 51 will be relocated to either existing side roads, new frontage roads, or new development streets.
• In addition, as part of this project, County V will be realigned east of US 51.
• There will also be bridges constructed as overpasses of two side roads, Vinburn Rd. and the proposed Bear Tree Prkwy.

Status/phase

Construction scheduled in two phases:

• 2012-2013 - Phase 1 construction scheduled, Reardon Rd. to north of Vinburn Rd.
• 2014 - Phase 2, construction scheduled, north of Vinburn Rd. to County V (Grinde Rd.)
