Meetings | News releases | Newsletters/others | Coordination Plan/Impact analysis

Today more than ever, highway projects are developed as a cooperative effort between the public, state and federal review agencies, and WisDOT.

Preparing a project like Verona Road and the West Beltline from concept to actual construction takes many years.

During the Needs Assessment (NA) phase, WisDOT conducted extensive traffic modeling, public opinion polls, infrastructure deficiency surveys and coordination with local officials.

Conclusions from the NA led WisDOT to initiate a subsequent study to look at alternative solutions to the identified needs. During that study, WisDOT worked closely with the cities of Madison and Fitchburg, neighborhoods, businesses and others that might be affected by the solutions.
