WIS 164 (County J), I-94 - WIS 175 - Environmental documents

An Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is the decision document for a major highway project like the WIS 164 project. The EIS pulls together community and agency interests, and recommends a future course of action.

EIS is required by National and Wisconsin Environmental Policy Acts (NEPA) for projects with potentially significant social, economic, natural resource and other impacts.

Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is lead agency for EIS, which was prepared in accordance with FHWA guidelines.

  • Draft EIS (DEIS), first version of EIS, completed in April 2001
  • Public hearing in April 2001 after DEIS became available for public and agency review
  • Final EIS (FEIS) completed late 2001. FEIS documented the preferred alternative, basis for its selection, comments on DEIS and public hearing input

If you have any questions about the environmental document process or structure, contact the project team.
