WIS 241 Access Management Study

Study location

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) has completed a six-mile corridor study for WIS 241 (South 27th Street), from the County Line to County ZZ (College Avenue), in Milwaukee County.

Study overview

The result of this study was the development of an access management plan. This plan will assist public officials in managing access as new developments emerge along WIS 241. The study:

  • Recommends development of a local access route parallel to WIS 241 in both the cities of Franklin and Oak Creek.
  • Identifies the location of new public street access onto WIS 241.
  • Identifies the location of future signals that would maximize efficiency on the highway as traffic volumes increase.
  • Identifies driveways that have the potential for consolidation if land combinations occur.

The study was a collaborative planning effort between WisDOT and the cities of Franklin and Oak Creek to assist in long-term land use and development decisions that minimize adverse safety and efficiency impacts to the highway.

To view the completed access management plan, contact the planning or engineering departments of Franklin or Oak Creek.

Status/phase

Study was completed in 2006. There is no construction activity at this time.
