WIS 241 Access Management Study - need

For several years, this section of WIS 241 (South 27th Street) has experienced a high level of development and traffic growth. Trends show that as large developments occur in an area, there is an increase in smaller developments that are supported by the increased traffic.

In the near future, development is expected to continue along the corridor, thereby increasing traffic volumes and congestion.

Access management techniques include:

  • Reducing the number of direct access points.
  • Recommending the construction of frontage roads.
  • Reducing the number of median openings.

Implementing these techniques can maintain the highway's safety and efficiency for a longer period of time and delay adding lanes and avoid adverse right of way impacts.
