WIS 38 (County K - Oakwood Rd.) - Environmental document

WisDOT is currently re-evaluating the original environmental document, which consisted of an Environmental Assessment (EA) and a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI). The goal is to have the re-evaluation completed by the end of 2012.

The following documents are in Adobe PDF PDF format unless labeled otherwise.

New Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) (June 11, 2012)

A FONSI is issued by FHWA when environmental analysis and interagency review during the EA process find a project to have no significant impacts on the quality of the environment.

June 2006 FHWA signed the FONSI.

Environmental Assessment (EA)

An EA documents the need for the proposed improvements, the alternatives that were considered, and their impacts.

An EA is required by the National and Wisconsin Environmental Policy Acts for projects with potentially significant social, economic, natural resource and other impacts.

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is the lead agency for the EA, which was prepared in accordance with FHWA guidelines.

The preferred alternative was identified under the original 2004-2007 study, and the corridor study has concluded with a set of concept plans showing the location and dimensions for the proposed improvements. The plans were provided to local officials for use in land use planning and preserving the land needed to build the improvements.

The EA is available online via the links below and was made available for review and comment at the Caledonia Village Hall and Oak Creek Library during the original study in 2006.
