Past meetings

Local information centers

Informal open houses took place throughout the study to allow individuals to provide input and receive updates.

Local business meetings

Meetings were held with local businesses and representatives from WisDOT, the La Crosse Area Planning Committee, city of La Crosse and town of Shelby to review study progress and gather comments regarding the draft alternatives.

Surveys

Approximately 50 volunteers toured the study area (at their convenience) to identify and comment on various real life examples of the ways land use and transportation systems interact. They recorded their impressions in a "Multi-modal Field Guide."

Completed in April 2004, a telephone survey of 400 residents within one mile of the corridor gathered opinions about highway usage, aesthetics, safety, traffic patterns, congestion, alternate routes and future development.

In summer 2004, 120 businesses on or near South Avenue and Mormon Coulee Road were sent surveys regarding their perceptions of transportation issues, land use and access.
