Project overview

Reconstruction to include:

  • Wider travel lanes
  • Dedicated turn lanes
  • Bike lanes in both directions
  • Adding and widening sidewalks on both sides of the roadway
  • Two lanes in each direction with raised center median

Business 51 is an important transportation corridor with a significant number of commercial establishments.

Project cost estimated at $36.5 million (including real estate).

Status/phase

 Green Dr. to Springville Dr.

  • Final design scheduled to occur in 2012-2014
  • Construction currently scheduled to start in 2016

Elm St. to Minnesota Ave.

  • Construction is not currently scheduled

Hickory Dr. to Elm St.

  • Construction is not currently scheduled

Springville Dr. to Hickory Dr.

  • Construction is not currently scheduled

Improvements to the Business 51/Minnesota Ave. intersection were completed fall 2011.
