WisDOT seeks public input on refined designs for WIS 116 bridge in Winneconne

Note - Comments due end of June 2013

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s (WisDOT) Northeast Region in Green Bay is seeking public input on its refined conceptual design for the proposed WIS 116 (Main Street) bridge crossing the Wolf River in the village of Winneconne.

In August 2012, WisDOT selected construction of a fixed bridge just south of the existing bridge as its preferred alternative, subsequently refining the conceptual design on the west side of the bridge to include a boardwalk. WisDOT has also developed more specific ideas about design of the proposed fishing piers. The piers will be constructed at the location of the existing bridge, while not incorporating any part of that bridge.

WisDOT has placed an exhibit showing the revised conceptual bridge design and information about the fishing piers at the Winneconne Village Hall, 30 S. 1st Street (one block south of Main Street on the west side of the Wolf River).

The public is invited and encouraged to stop in, review the display and provide comments using the forms provided.

  • Village Hall is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Comments on this stage of the design will be accepted through the end of June 2013

The exhibit is WisDOT’s first step at coordinating with the public on the design. Please note there will also be additional opportunities for the public to comment on the bridge design during the 2-year design period.
