WIS 29 (County FF-County U) Freeway Conversion - Environmental documents

The segment of WIS 29 from County J to WIS 32 was studied for corridor preservation. An Environmental Assessment (EA) was created for this project, covering both of the projects at County FF and County VV.

Additional Environmental Reports (ER) will be created separately for both of the proposed projects. Work on both of these documents is currently underway.

Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI)

A Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) was signed by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) on January 14, 2008.

Environmental Assessment (EA)

Final EA was approved by the FHWA on June 14, 2007.

The EA was available for public comment between June 24 and August 11, 2007. A public hearing was held on July 26, 2007 to view the EA and provide one avenue for the public to provide comments on it.

Recommendations

Potential interchange locations at County VV and County FF.
Recommended building overpasses at County U and at the extension of North Pine Tree Road and closing the Sunlite Drive/Woodland Road intersection.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is evaluating the conceptual plans prepared during the corridor preservation study and completing preliminary designs for the interchanges and overpasses. Both are being refined to reduce impacts to residential properties, wetlands, and other features along WIS 29.

Design work began in 2010 for both projects. Construction for County FF ONLY is scheduled to start in 2013 and scheduled to be completed in 2014.
