I-43 (Irwin Ave.-Military Ave.) Leo Frigo Memorial Bridge - Need/purpose

Why is this project needed?

Existing pavement on I-43, Irwin Ave. - Military Ave., is beginning to show signs of aging.

Existing deck surfaces on all three bridges (Leo Frigo Memorial Bridge (Tower Dr.) over the Fox River and Atkinson Dr., and Military Ave. bridges over I-43) are beginning to deteriorate and are in need of repair.

Project benefits/anticipated outcomes

To extend the life of the highway and improve the quality of the driving surface, pavement repairs will be completed as part of this project.

These pavement repairs will extend onto the I-43 interchange ramps at Atkinson Dr. and Webster Ave.

Leo Frigo Memorial Bridge (Tower Dr.) over the Fox River and the Atkinson Dr. and Military Ave. bridges over I-43 will also be resurfaced as part of this project.

Overlaying the bridge decks will extend the life of the bridges as well as provide a smoother driving surface.
