Tier 1, US 8 Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) - Preferred alternative

Because of the 40-mile project length, the corridor was divided into seven individual segments for study and each segment had one or more alternatives to the No-build alternative.

The preferred alternative is a four-lane roadway corridor selected after consideration of impacts and through local and agency coordination. The preferred alternative is a combination of preferred segment alternatives for each of the seven segments although in Segment V (Turtle Lake area) WisDOT will continue to evaluate preferred alternatives as part of its Tier 2 study process. The preferred alternative segments are outlined in the table below.
