Corridor studies are a cooperative effort among the public, state and federal review agencies, and WisDOT. Extensive effort is always made to keep the public involved and informed throughout the study process.

  • Nov. 11 and 13, 2003 - PIMs in Janesville and Darien. Input received at the meetings will help in the development of improvement alternatives.

Special interest groups/committees

Two committees have been formed to provide additional information and guidance to the study team.

Advisory Committee (AC)

AC is composed of state and local officials who provide additional information and guidance to the study team.

Technical Committee (TC)

TC is composed of local transportation and planning officials who provide additional information and guidance to the study team.

Alternatives Workshops

Alternatives workshops were conducted with the technical and advisory committees for both the east and west segments of the study area. Participants developed a full range of potential improvement alternatives.

SAFETEA-LU

Section 6002 of the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU 6002) requires the lead agency for a project to establish a plan for coordinating public and agency participation during the environmental review process.

SAFETEA-LU was implemented in 2005 for all Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) with a Notice of Intent published after Aug. 10, 2005.

The Notice of Intent for the US 14/WIS 11 Corridor Study was published after that date, therefore, a coordination plan was developed in accordance with SAFETEA-LU 6002.

Needs Assessment (NA) workshop

Oct. 2, 2003 - A local officials NA workshop was conducted. Participants formed groups to identify key issues associated with the US 14/WIS 11 corridor.
