Overview
- Replace two bridges on WIS 19 between US 51 and County C.
- Safety inspections show rapid deterioration of the steel beams in the superstructure of the two bridges, which were constructed in the 1930s and rehabilitated in 1989.
- The structures are currently posted for a 40-ton weight limit. While safe to travel at this time, the bridges require replacement as soon as possible. (only the western structure is posted right now)
Schedule
- Construction is expected to begin July 2013, and be completed Sept. 2013.
- Accelerated construction techniques and contractor incentives for early opening will be utilized to meet this very aggressive schedule.
Traffic impacts/Detours
- WIS 19 will be closed to thru traffic for a period of 40-45 days.
- US 151 and I-39/90/94 are the signed state detour routes.
- Motorists are encouraged to use the designated detour route to avoid congestion and delays on local roads.
- Residents and businesses located between the structures will be provided access during the closure.
Status
Construction scheduled for July-Sept. 2013.
