I-90 is the longest interstate in the U.S. and directly connects Wisconsin to 12 other states as well as the east and west coastlines. The I-90/WIS 35 interchange is a vital link in Wisconsin’s transportation system. WIS 35 is the longest state highway in Wisconsin and runs the entire distance of Wisconsin’s western border providing a link for those residents. The section of I-90 that runs through the study area was completed in 1967. A three-mile chain of bridges and causeways carry I-90 across the Black River, French Slough, Round Lake, and eventually the Mississippi River before entering Minnesota. WIS 35 is a scenic route that serves as the Great River Road as it runs along the Mississippi River. Project cost estimated at $71.1 million in 2010 dollars. Status/phaseDesign work with construction scheduled to start 2013 and scheduled to be completed 2018.
