I-39/90 is one of the most important transportation corridors in Wisconsin, and is an integral part of the national Interstate system. Built in the early 1960s, all of the eleven interchanges along the 45-mile corridor have outdated design features that contribute to safety concerns. By the year 2030, with no corrective action, all sections of I-39/90 are expected to operate at unacceptable levels of service, meaning unstable traffic flow and stop-and-go conditions. The outcome of the study is a recommended plan that will improve safety, ease congestion and modernize this important transportation corridor. Recommendations of environmental documents have been adopted and improvements have been funded.Status/phaseDesign work with no construction activity at this time. Public meetings to be conducted throughout the project area.
