US 14, from WIS 78 in Mazomanie to Middleton, in Dane County.

Study overview

The US 14 corridor, a 15-mile segment, is a backbone connector highway. It is a direct connection between Madison and La Crosse and a gateway highway to Southwest Wisconsin. It is part of the Connections 2030 Frank Lloyd Wright Corridor.

Planning for a Corridor Preservation Access Study began in 2008. Traffic along this corridor is projected to increase by over 30 percent over the next 25 years leading to reduced intersection operations and unsafe conditions throughout the corridor.

This study documents all safety, operational deficiencies and environmental characteristics of the corridor. This study also helped develop roadway and intersection strategies and recommendations to increase safety and operations along the corridor.

Study was completed May 2010.
