US 10 (WIS 13 - I-39) Expansion - State highway system changes

As part of the US 10 (WIS 13 - I-39) Expansion, various state highway route changes will occur in central Wisconsin. These changes are being done to reorganize the highway system to the proper jurisdiction. Some factors considered in defining these changes include safety, travel efficiency, system continuity, and traffic volumes.

Jurisdictional transfers (JT)

Upon completion of the new US 10, portions of existing US 10 and other state highways will be transferred to the jurisdiction of local units of government. WisDOT will coordinate the specifics of these JT and highway route changes with county and local governments. These changes will take affect as the associated US 10 expansion projects are completed.

WIS 13 and WIS 80 rerouting

System changes involve the rerouting of WIS 13 and WIS 80 in central Wisconsin, which includes:

  • Rerouting WIS 13 to run concurrent with WIS 34 and US 10 from Wisconsin Rapids to Marshfield.
  • Extending WIS 80 from Pittsville to US 10 on existing WIS 13.
  • WIS 73 and WIS 34 would remain on their current routes.

These changes provide:

  • A more direct route for motorists traveling to US 10 and I-90/94.
  • Reduced distance and travel time between Wisconsin Rapids and Marshfield.
  • More efficient travel by avoiding indirect travel to Veterans Parkway (WIS 13) in Marshfield and taking advantage of the most current safety and design standards used on Veterans Parkway, WIS 34, and new US 10.

WIS 13 route changed Aug. 2012.

WIS 80 route changed Aug. 2011.
