US 18 (Moreland Boulevard) and Canadian National Railroad study

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) has collaborated with the city of Waukesha to conduct a study to determine the feasibility of grade separating the US 18 (Moreland Boulevard) and Canadian National (CN) Railroad crossing.

The study evaluated the feasibility of several alternatives and recommends several alternatives that could proceed into the preliminary design and determination of environmental impacts phase of the project.

Two main concepts have emerged from the study with several alternatives within each concept.

• Concept 1 - Moreland Boulevard over the CN Railroad tracks
  • Alternative 1: Road over
  • Alternative 2: Road over, railroad lowered
  • Alternative 3: Road over on an offset alignment
  • Alternative 4: Road over on an offset alignment and railroad lowered
• Concept 2 - CN Railroad track over Moreland Boulevard
  • Alternative 1: Rail over
  • Alternative 2: Rail over, possible White Rock underpass
  • Alternative 3: Rail over, road lowered
