US 51 corridor, Dane County central segment (Stoughton Road) - Short-term improvements

Some of the concerns identified in the Needs Assessment (NA) can be addressed with short-term, relatively low-cost improvements. These would enhance safety and improve traffic flow until major infrastructure improvements, such as capacity expansion, are finalized and funded.

Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) and other agencies, such as the city of Madison, are constructing and planning numerous projects in the corridor:

• Completed improvements
• Planned improvements

The WisDOT corridor management team, along with the advisory committees, is working to identify and implement additional improvements on an ongoing basis.
