US 53 Corridor Preservation Study - Haugen Area (26th Avenue to 30th Avenue)

Status/phase:

Study - Long term planning with no construction activity.

Project overview

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is conducting a Corridor Preservation Study, along US 53 from 26th Avenue to 30th Avenue, due to increased traffic and development along US 53.

The increased capacity is creating operational and safety issues along the corridor.

Most of the problem areas are located at higher volume at-grade (i.e. stop sign) intersections, such as intersection at Haugen.

A completed Corridor Preservation Study will also provide a blue print by which local development can be planned and implemented in harmony with the operational demands of the highway.

Since it may be decades before all the necessary construction funding is obtained, it is critical the plan be developed now to ensure the next phase of improvements for a freeway/expressway can actually occur in the future.
